Not Good + tomorrow is Lolly's birthday!

So, you know the illness that has stormed through my house causing a need for Diarrhea Juice and basically making life miserable here at Chateaux Weed?

I got it today.

I'm sticking to the BRAT diet, downing vitamin C (does that actually help?) and I am really, really, really hoping I wake up feeling better tomorrow.

It's only fair that I got it though because when Lolly was sick I teased her and was like "Hey Lolly, what's the BRAT diet again? Isn't it beefsteak, roast beef, anchovies and tilapia?" and she was like "bleh, I think I'm gonna be sick..."

I'm not laughing now. Karma, I tell ya.

Have you ever seen a food more soothing to the intestinal tract?

Wish me luck.

Also, tomorrow is Lolly's birthday! I'm so in love with her and so incredibly glad she was born. Leave her a birthday greeting if it suits your fancy. I'm sure she'd love to hear from you.

  4. You may not really care, but the Vitamin C study was never duplicated. Couldn't be replicated. But if nothing else, it doesn't hurt.

  11. Actually, Josh, maybe you should lay off the Vitamin C. I know that if I take too much of it or drink too much orange juice, my gastrointestinal tract rebels and I get diarrhea from it. And anyway, Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin so it pretty much washes out of the body fairly quickly. Go for the apple juice because it has pectin which will help to firm up the stools (sorry if I sound clinical, but I was a medical assistant years ago AND I raised five kids to adulthood so lots of Doctor Mom experience).

    And Lolly, just for you:

    Happy, happy birthday, Lolly, dear,
Happy days will come to you all year.
If I had a wish, then it would be,
A happy, happy birthday to you from me!

  12. First, Happy Birthday to Lolly! Glad you're feeling better.

Second, Josh - I eat lots of yogurt when I have stomach troubles. This helps restore the natural "good" bacteria in your gut. Plus it tastes awesome.

    1. I'd suggest he get the full-fat Greek Yogurt (Zoi is a good local brand that can be found easily where he lives). All of the probiotics and no artificial sweeteners which can aggravate diarrhea. Winco carries it.

  17. I am almost positive that when asked "What would you like for your birthday" the response is never "I want to take care of a sick 4 yr old man-child." Cuz, if we are talking about hard truths, we need to admit that is what men become when they are sick! :-D

Here's to hoping that Josh woke up feeling well and bright eyed and bushy tailed so you could enjoy your day!

Virgos are my favorite people. Perfectionists, harder on themselves than anyone else would be, but loyal and faithful and just all around amazing beings!

Happy Birthday and I hope it is totally awesome!

  18. Happy birthday to Lolly! I think you guys are really great, and I love reading your posts (: Btw, vitamin C is typically more effective in preventing sickness than treating it, so you may have been better off taking it as soon as your family started getting sick. But it can't hurt to take it now, maybe it'll speed your recovery. (:

  20. Happy Birthday Lolly!! I've been following since the Unicorn post and only posted one reply about the ADD stuff but got all nervous bc that was my first post on ANY blog and thought I sounded brilliant until I reread what I posted and realized that I totally didn't answer the question or help at all. But I can't screw up a birthday wish! (unless I use it to ramble about myself. Wait.)

  22. I have followed your blog from your "Club Unicorn" post. I just want to let you know that I admire you and your family for your courage to be in the spotlight. That comes with a lot of tough things to deal with from both sides. What strikes me most about you and Lolly, is that you were 100 percent honest from the beginning. Being honest about the tough things would save a lot more marriages.
